Oregon has a lot to offer dog lovers with lots of great hiking trails and beaches. The city of Portland also hosts some important cat shows and even a ferret show. If you want to travel to these pet events with your pet competitors, you can make your trip more comfortable with a stay at one of the pet friendly bed and breakfasts in Oregon. Bed and breakfasts usually aren’t as crowded or smelly as a hotel or motel, either.

Non Smoking

Have you ever walked into a hotel room that claims to be non-smoking but it reeks of cheap cigars? If the smell bothers you, imagine how your pet will react. Also, if you are a non-smoker, you will have more of a chance at finding a pet friendly bed in breakfast in Oregon. Trying to clean out tobacco smell from fabrics is often a lost cause, but cleaning pet stains is easier.

Any Resident Animals?

One of the charming things about small inns, whether on the Oregon coat, in the bustling city or deep in the heart of a pet friendly bed and breakfast in Texas, is that the owners will often have their pets living on the grounds. This can cause a problem if your dog loves to chase cats or if you are bringing a pet rat that might look like a scrumptious morsel to the bed and breakfast’s resident carnivore. Be sure to ask if any animals are living at the pet friendly bed and breakfast in Oregon.

Internet Animal Communities

Pet lovers are a vocal and opinionated bunch, which helps you in selecting a pet friendly bed and breakfast in Oregon. By going to a pet forum on the internet or an internet pet product rating community like Dogster.com, you can find out quickly which lodgings have the best reputations.

If you have trouble finding such a forum or internet site, you could always go to a website like Petswelcome.com in order to do a quick search on all of the pet friendly bed and breakfasts in Oregon listed. They tend to be more of a comprehensive listing than what you would find in books or even the Yellow Pages.

Be sure that if you are taking a dog, the dog is well behaved and knows basic commands and is house broken. Your dog should be a canine ambassador in order for the both of you to have a good time and be safe.

Whether in the breathtaking countryside or the bustling city, it might seem like a great idea to take you and your pet to a pet friendly bed and breakfast in New York. Perhaps you hate the idea of putting Fido in a kennel while you go on a trip. It would be a bonding experiencing traveling together. But, before you book a cottage, room or suite and a pet friendly bed and breakfast in New York, you need to ask yourself and your pet some hard questions.

How Rich Are You?

Although celebrities now like to tote dogs with them everywhere like fashion accessories, this doesn’t mean you can get away with doing the same. Some people and their pets can get into any hotel or bed and breakfast they want, just because they are rich and/or famous. They also do not need their pets to be well behaved, as they just pay for any damages. If you can’t get away with this behavior in pet friendly bed and breakfasts in Oregon, the chances are you won’t anywhere else.

How Heavy Is Your Dog?

Many pet friendly bed and breakfasts in New York City and state have weight restrictions for their canine guests. This is because a very heavy dog not only can put stress on floorboards and cause complaints from guests below, but they get on the beds. The proprietors have enough problems trying to get the mattresses not to explode when people get on them, much less a one hundred pound dog. You must know how much your dog weighs.

How Does Your Dog Like The Unknown?

Some dogs hate traveling. They show their disapproval by destroying your suite at the pet friendly bed and breakfast in New York, even if they are well-behaved at home. They are the ones that get motion sick easily and might be upset by change. It can be dicey traveling with a dog that you recently adopted from a shelter, because the dog hasn’t come to trust you yet and doesn’t know if they are going to be taken away from you.

In that case, it might be best hiring a pet sitter or even having the dog stay at the vet’s kennel, just because there is someone there he or she knows. You don’t want to risk not only your wallet and sanity, but the chance of the pet friendly bed and breakfast in New York changing their minds about allowing pets.

A Howling Good Time At The Pet Friendly Bed And Breakfasts In Maine

Maine – the home of lobsters, the Down East accent and Stephen King. But did you also know that it’s home to many pet friendly bred and breakfasts? Maine’s tourist industry is growing, partially on the basis of deciding to be as accommodating to canine tourists as to human tourists. There are also many hotels and RV parks that also accept pets, but the pet friendly bed and breakfasts in Maine tend to have a personal touch.

Never Assume

Not every dog can have his day in a pet friendly bed and breakfast in Maine. Perhaps, if you are rich enough, any misbehavior your dog does in a pet friendly bed and breakfast in New York or California will be overlooked, but not in Maine. Bed and breakfasts tend to be small businesses where the owners often live on or next to the grounds. You are basically a guest in someone’s home. You will be responsible for any damages caused by your dog. Please be sure your dog is well behaved.

Also, not all pet friendly bed and breakfasts in Maine can accommodate all dogs. Some, like the Fairhaven Inn in Bath, Maine, can only allow dogs up to 75 pounds. Some will only allow dogs that get along with cats, because they will have cats living on the grounds. Such a place is Edgewater Farm B & B in Phippsburg. And not all pet friendly bed and breakfasts in Maine will accept dogs, but will accept other species of pets. You must contact the bed and breakfast to be sure of their rules.

Separate Fee

Quite often for any bed and breakfast across the nation that will allow dogs, you’ll have to pay more for a room than a non-dog traveler. This is an extra fee for your pet. It’s not as bad as having to pay for an extra person, but the reasoning is similar. Sometimes, you have to pay a deposit in case of damages, which is then refunded after you check out and the room is inspected. Each bed and breakfast has different rules about pet fees, so don’t assume all are alike.

Location, Location

Many dog welcoming lodgings are often located across from or near a dog friendly place to explore or play. For example, the Hounds Tooth Inn in Kennebunk is near a twelve acre park that allows dogs. Some will even make a treat for your dog along with your breakfast.
